BUSINESS ASSISTANCE Coordinator

Project Summary

The Southeast Asian Market in FDR Park is a community of former refugees and immigrant members who have called the Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR) Park their home since the 1980s. For 40+ years, they have cultivated an open community space all their own, providing a cultural hub for social gatherings, sharing of ethnic cuisines, and business opportunities through vending. The Business Assistance Coordinator will support the SEA Market vendors and the Vendor’s Association in its efforts to grow and strengthen the market.

 

The “Triangle Partnership” includes the Vendors Association of FDR Park, the Cambodian Association of Greater Philadelphia, and FDR Park. These three partnering entities are the organizing and decision-making body of the Southeast Asian Market in FDR Park. 

 

Administrative Responsibilities and Partnership Development

  • Represent the Vendors Association of FDR Park and the Southeast Asian Market in FDR Park in Triangle partnership, community and city-wide meetings, gatherings, and events. 

  • Cultivate and develop the “Triangle Partnership” which includes the VA of FDR Park, CAGP, and FDR Park. This partnership is the organizing and decision-making body of the Southeast Asian Market in FDR Park. 

  • Build and sustain strong relationships and communications with Vendors Association membership.

  • Maintain organizational and membership documents, files, and sensitive materials. 

  • Work closely with the Vendors Association Board of Directors to uphold the interests of the VA of FDR Park and the SEA Market. 

  • Work closely with Vendors Association staff through additional administrative and operational tasks.

  • Participate in fund development and grants initiatives.

  • Participate in ongoing training and workshops towards consistent knowledge building.

  • Participate in Department of Commerce TAC Cohort meetings and activities.

 

Direct Support Services

  • Provide professional business development and technical support services to Vendors Association members and registered participants associated with the Southeast Asian Market. 

  • Coordinate outreach and engagement initiatives for SEA Market meetings, workshops, and training. 

  • Track, advance, and maintain the pathway to formalization benchmarks for each Vendor Association Member to meet compliance on both Vendors Association and City of Philadelphia requirements and standards. 

    • ​Technical Licensing Support

    • Philadelphia Tax ID

    • Commercial Activity License

    • Food Safety Certification

    • Active Commercial Kitchen Membership

    • FDR Park Food Vendor Application

  • Support the application and submission processes for 1. Health Department and 2. Philadelphia Parks and Recreation special events permitting.

  • Provide referrals for supplemental business development programs and services.

 

 

Managing Documents, Protocols, and Reporting

  • Provide documents, data, and mandatory program reports to be submitted in a timely manner.

  • Develop and maintain documents surrounding organizational and membership policies, protocols, and processes.

  • Create and administer forms and surveys to evaluate services and programs.

  • Manage case notes, sensitive records, and demographic information of the Vendors Association.

  • Manage database of Vendors Association Membership.

 

Eligibility Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor/Associate Degree in business management , entrepreneurship, psychology, health and human development, or related fields

 OR

  •  Minimum 2 years experience providing business and technical services. 

  • English fluency is mandatory.

  • Advanced in Southeast Asian languages with a high preference in Khmer.

  • Ability to maintain client confidentiality.

  • Self-motivated with taking the initiative in planning and completing tasks.

  • Ability to commute.

  • Flexibility to work evenings and ability to work weekends during market season (April to October/November).

  • Must be welcoming and respectful.

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to carry out multiple tasks.

  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable in various work environments.

  • Exceptional public speaking skills and interpersonal relationship support.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Work Space.
